![]() ![]() tree density, no project3000, no LOWS custom scenery. But he might have turned convective slider, maybe terrain effects, or turbulence slider, maybe even adjusted atmosphere scales? (IIRC at least atmosphere stability and turbulence is set to lowest interpretation to make it easier to fly) - unless these are what's default for AW settings.Ī lot of things aren't turned up or enabled e.g. He doesn't seem to have found all the advanced settings for AW, or the environment settings dialog. Unlike a lot of newcomers the person making this video seems to have found at least the advanced weather engine option, and also had a very quick look at the rendering settings dialog. I found just this video from a newcomer to FG I think, while taking a look at flightgear youtube results over last month for any development vids for the newsletter (the create next newsletter link seems bugged on wiki right now). This is Erik's agriculture regional definition improvements, and random objects update (including things like silos/farm-buildings):Ģ020.3.7 is very close to being ready to go live AIUI.Įrik wrote in Sat 2:23 pm:It's almost unbelievable how far FligthGear has come lately. The good thing is if FG is CPU bound graphics settings that are mostly GPU only can be turned right up including AA and transparency AAįG looks fantastic on the rc build. V12 found increasing OSG_NUM_DATABASE_THREADS on a 8 core Ryzen helped with loading only, but it was unstable. ![]() It's not worth upgrading hardware until after WS 3.0 comes out (and hardware will be faster by then, as well as being less expensive due to the pandemic). You can leave buildings on, and try turning off folders for pylons, random scenery objects, roads in order of importance for the flight to see if it helps. Buildings are mostly in the new instanced format, except for the large buildings in city centers. The main issue is the objects in the old OSM2City format. The bottleneck is the CPU with this OSM2City rollout, even on Erik's faster 750. There is a section on performance tips in the wiki page above. I seem to be missing some building textures though - any tips for good graphics settings? I have multithreading set to 'Automatic'. And even more to come! Thanks so much to everyone.Tom_nl wrote in Mon 12:51 pm.this is on quad core i7 2014 MacBook Pro with 2GB GeForce 750M graphics). Our scenery has come so far thanks to the many who have worked on all the tools and systems. But still, fantastic compared to current version scenery. Also how to add building facades to match local areas. I need to ask on OSM2city thread what needs to be configured for this. ![]() Ie: single family homes VS 2 story apartment style. I wonder what needs to be done to match building style better. If you look closely, a lot of the buildings don't match the style of the real buildings. My point is that the OSM code in FG is really getting sophisticated and doing a really great job of adding buildings where the OSM database has yet to have buildings added. I was the one that input those in the OSM database. Last I looked at the OSM database there was only a few of the main downtown buildings added. I assume most of the OSM here is the generated street algorithm as I don't think OSM proper has been updated with all the buildings for this town of El Dorado. (megginson scenery, FG OSM, photoscenery overlay) You don't have to necessarily run your scripts.Ĭompare this (as stated above) with the current way outdated terrasync data. I don't know if you are aware, if you just point at your scenery, turn on all the high end OSM stuff in the FG menu and turn on photoscenery (after downloading it of course), you end up with some really incredible scenery. This map shows all the way to the east coast.Īlso, even though I have my own custom Kansas scenery, it is so nice to have it and the rest of the North American Continent updated and upgraded as you done. Is that correct? That server only has the two western chunks next to Alaska. Map here on this post shows more area in northern Canada than the actual map server does. ![]()
